O’Connor Hospital Birthing Center & NICU Murals

First blog post in a while and I wanted to highlight some of my favorite work I’ve been up to in the past few years.

I’ve had the privilege of painting 6 different murals on the 3rd floor of O’Connor Hospital in San Jose, CA between Fall of 2022 and Winter 2024. Each was commissioned by the Valley Medical Foundation in collaboration with nurses and staff to bring their visions to life.

See my highlights on Instagram stories for a bunch of process videos and shots I was posting during the painting.

Photo Op Discharge Mural

I added chalkboard paint so nurses can re-use the space every time a baby is discharged and the families can pose next to it. I was able to capture it in use (sans family) when I was painting the waiting room last month).

Welcome to the World and tree murals

Technically these were done as two separate murals, but they are essentially one. Families can pose on the bench under the words with their newborn! One of my SJ friends actually got to pose after her baby was born here.

Welcome to the world baby Finn! Abby posed with her new babe right after I painted this in early October, 2022.
